One of the internets largest and best online betting services, Betfair, has
decided to postpone a major flotation worth close to £1 Billion. Largely
due to an investment strategy that has not quite returned the maximum capital
within its potential, Betfair financial advisors think it is best to hold out
until the expected flood of capital comes pouring in.
The investment strategy is primarily concentrated in international expansion,
which Betfair, hopes to have established by the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
This sporting event is expected to be the biggest internet betting event in the
history of online gambling and net casinos - and could potentially be a gold
mine for Betfair if they play their own cards right.
Several financial executives are advising Betfair on the flotation, including a
team from Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. So far, the word is that the
online betting site has been urged to wait at least until the completion of the
World Cup, so that the company will have more resources to do the ambitious
flotation that many day-traders are hoping for.
