There's a new term on the internet - and it is drawing shudders from
webmasters, website owners and surfers on the Web. The term is
called Splog - and no, it is not a cousin of the unsolicited email /
processed meat product. It is more like a mutated baby given birth
through the act of spamming and blogging. Sounds exciting doesn't
it? However, splogs are starting to litter the internet, and are
becoming as much a nuisance as spamming and blogging ever was.
What is being done is that "sploggers" are posting links to their
business on blogs (blogging); However, since certain technologies
were developed to keep blogging from happening so easily, now these same
links are are showing up on the blogs with irrelevant post comments.
By making a comment, the sploggers can leave a link to their website,
which are usually related to online medications, pharmacies, pornography
and online casinos.
However, to give the online casinos the benefit of the doubt, many of
these splogs are being pushed over by third party affiliates not
employed by the casinos. The problem is so severe there is really
no way, or rather, no time to police all of the sploggers currently
online. The sad thing is that the blogs which truly have unique,
and many time, heart-warming information, are being littered with
phrases like, "I agree with what you are saying - Comment left by Online
Casino" It is really bad when some of these splogs show a blatant
disregard to the subject that is really being talked about on the blog.
However, those with blogs should not give up hope yet, for large
search engines like Google are currently developing cutting-edge
software that will keep even the sploggers from giving a bad name to
online casinos.
