Olympic Sports Casino Gets Green Light to
Reopen Online
Online gamers may have remembered the case last year in which an
online casino based out of Montego bay was shut down and ordered to stop
taking bets. It was called Olympic Sports, and was a legitimate
online casino and gaming site during its time of operation.
However, due to laws that only permitted the site to take local bets,
Olympic Sports was shut down after allegations that it was taking online
bets from Jamaica and around the world.
The online casinos owner, Spiros Athanas, first started his privately
owned business as a telemarketing firm, but soon thereafter branched
into online gambling when the demand peaked and telecommunications were
conducive to the industry. After being online for a short period
of time, traffic to Olympic Sports drastically increased and Athanas was
scrambling to keep up with players.
This is where Michael Surridge comes into the picture. He was
considered the sole and key witness who was paramount in bringing the
case against Surridge. However, Surridge failed to give a
testimoney (for unknown reasons) and can no longer be used as a witness
for the prosecution. This is what Athanas needed to get his casino
back online, which he is now doing.
