More Celebrities Promoting Online Casinos
Online gambling seems to be turning into a more acceptable, or at least,
tolerable activity for governments who have at one time or another
denounced it and threatened to prosecute. Evidence of this is in the
large number of celebrities who are signing six-figure contracts with
online casinos and internet betting sites to act as official spokespersons.
Celebrities such as Tom Arnold, Brooke Burke and former Buffalo Bills
quarterback, Jim Kelly have all agreed to promote their respected casinos,
even though they are potentially at risk of being prosecuted by the U.S.
government.
Although some other celebrities have walked out of their own endorsement
talks, it is very likely it was not due to governmental pressure.
Rather, it seems the government has quit taking an active role in
prosecuting violators due to the size and scope online gambling has become
on the internet and all over the world.
One notable celebrity and former Minnesota Governor, Jesse Ventura, has
taken a very pro-active stance towards online gambling. More
specifically, Ventura has made it a personal vendetta of sorts to make
online sports betting legal in the U.S. It very well already could
be, considering how many people actually make bets on sports teams over the
internet. The numbers are just as big for those who place their bets
in the online casino. And now that notable figures like Ventura are
taking an open stance, online gambling could very well become legal in the
U.S. soon. As far as Ventura is concerned, he is not aware of any law
explicitly prohibiting what he is doing.
To top it off, over half of the yearly revenue that is generated by
online gambling, comes from American players. Maybe its the slot
machines, or maybe its the American's way of free enterprise and doing as
they see fit. Whatever it comes down to, Christiansen Capital
Advisors has confirmed that online gambling revenue will reach over $12
billion this year. That is too much money for any one government to
try and put down.
