First Casinos Under UK Gambling Act Could be in
South London
The South London area of Croydon is now a prospective site to build a
medium sized casino tanks to Century Casinos Inc. and Westmead Business
Group Limited. The two business partners announced recently they
intend to acquire the Airport House and Aerodrome Hotel in Croydon and
renovate the premise into a casino, hotel and health club. There
are plans to build restaurants and bars within the miniature Vegas
complex as well. With a planned thirty-something gambling tables and 150
slot machines, the casino will be a formidable business if an
application is approved by the Gambling Commission.
At this point in time, no application has even be submitted, for the
Commission has not yet begun accepting them under the new UK Gambling
Act. The Croydon site is the first unofficially proposed casino,
which Century Casinos is doing all they can to stir up hype and media
coverage. The CEO of Century, Peter Hoetzinger stated the new
regulations set forth in the Gambling Act gel perfectly with the
location of their intended casino project. He commented that
Croydon will be home to a high-class casino and entertainment facility,
which will do wonders for building the local economy up.
Nobody can argue with those claims, considering that Century Casinos
is a world recognized casino developer and successful gaming operator.
As for where things stand now in the proposed plan, several applications
will have to be submitted and filed as dictated under the Gambling Act,
as well as requests to make changes to zoning in the area. This
should not be hard to acquire, considering the Aerodrome Hotel has been
in need of some help for a long while.
