New Seat is Appointed to Online Casino Fairness and Regulatory Board

The online casino industry's leading independent gaming fairness regulator, eCOGRA, has appointed another seat to its Board of Directors.  Karl Magnusson is the latest addition, and is expected to bring more insight into the world of economics and financial matters within the organization.  Karl is the Operations Manager for Ongame and Nordicon Limited in the U.K., which operates one of the largest online poker rooms and casino gambling sites in the internet gaming industry - PokerRoom.com.

A spokesperson for eCOGRA commented that the Board is looking forward to working with Mr. Magnusson, and that his experience in finance managing will be a fine complement to eCOGRA's already esteemed panel of independent online casino gambling professionals.  Addressed also were concerns that eCOGRA's large number of independent directors would be regulating the very same groups their affiliated sites were apart of.  However, eCOGRA's Michael Hirst, stated that there is an equal balance between the number of independent directors and certified eCOGRA directors - and that there is a second group of unaffiliated independents who decide on whether a casino site is awarded the Seal of Approval.  Additionally, although these directors have a say on whether a casino has passed all the requirements to become a certified Fair Gaming Casino, the Board of Director's has ultimate authority over the independents.  A system of checks and balances is in place, keeping eCOGRA a respected authority on online casino regulation.

PokerRoom.com, which again, is Ongame's leading and most prized gambling site, had recently been awarded eCOGRA's new "Play it Safe" seal, which is a newly updated standard that takes even more precautions in preventing underage and problem online gambling.  Part of the stringent requirements in receiving the Seal (aside from meeting software fairness customer service standards) is that all staff members are trained according to the standards.  Employees are given insight on how to identify and report underage and problem gamblers, as well as provide help and assistance.  PokerRoom.com has become one of three major casino sites to receive the new seal, which was only recently put into action by eCOGRA.
