Pinnacle Expands St. Louis Casino Resort

Pinnacle Entertainment has added yet another resort to its long list of gambling and hospitality properties.  completing a purchase from FelCor Lodging Trust for $38 million, the property is an Embassy Suites Hotel in the heart of downtown St. Louis.

The historic city is on the verge of building a proposed entertainment and gambling district, which Pinnacle bided on back in 2004.  Having obtained one of the two permits to build casinos in the forthcoming district, Pinnacle will be using the Embassy Suites Hotel to complement its soon-to-be casino resort. CEO, Daniel Lee, stated the hotel will be renovated to match the design and architecture of the casino, and that the two properties will be connected via a raised catwalk reminiscent of those used in Las Vegas.

This being the case, obviously the casino resort will be built directly adjacent to the Embassy Suites building, which incidentally has approximately 300 suites.  Considering that Pinnacle is building a luxury hotel, spa and casino in addition to the newly purchased property, it is not exactly clear what the site will be used for, whether it becomes more suites, convention space or an extension to the casino floor.
